Come taste the fresh flavors of spring

February 25th, 2014

We’re unveiling our new spring seasonal Pollinator Blend this Saturday, March 1st. Stop by the shop between 1-3 PM to sample the very first of this perennial favorite.

We’ll be tasting come rain or shine, snow, or sleet—just like the colorful seed catalogs that start to arrive this time of year, our Pollinator Blend has become a sign of the season here in the Twin Cities.

While strawberries, ripe melons, and roses may still be months away, this tasting will give you a hint of what’s to come, fortifying as a walk in the Como Park Conservatory on a cold day.

Join us on November 30th for Small Business Saturday!

November 21st, 2013

You’ve heard the buzz of big retailers gearing up for Black Friday, the day calculated to put their books back in the black, but have you heard of Small Business Saturday? Come on out November 30th and be a part of the bottom line of your community.

We’ll be marking the event at our shop all day long. Our stretch of Minnehaha Avenue is a perfect example of the delightful diversity of small businesses: in just a few blocks, there’s a bookstore, a microbrewery, secondhand shops, a pizza parlor, a bike shop, artist studios, and lots more, including our coffee shop. Stop in for a treat while you’re doing errands, or to pick up a piece of equipment for that coffee fanatic on your list.

In honor of small, local and hopefully our first snowfall, we are doing an early release of our much-anticipated winter seasonal coffee, the Snowshoe Brew. It won’t be available anywhere else until Monday Dec. 2nd, but for folks who visit us on Small Business Saturday, we’ll be offering a first taste of it from 9 am to 2 pm. You can also buy a 12 oz bag here before it arrives anywhere else in town.

And if Minneapolis is a little too far for you to visit, odds are good that your hometown has some great neighborhood businesses too. Get out, say hi to your neighbors, and help support vibrant local economies everywhere!

PERCOLATE: Tuesday, May 28th, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

May 15th, 2013

Join the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy on Tuesday, May 28th, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm for another installment of Percolate. Percolate is an opportunity, every other month, to join IATP in discussions about food, farming and trade. This isn’t just another lecture—come ready to participate!

Wall Street banks and elitist multibillionaires are buying up water all over the world at an unprecedented pace—even in the United States. With water insecurity increasing globally, what does this mean for our communities and farmers?

Join IATP’s international water expert Shiney Varghese for a look at how the current water governance regime privileges profit over people, communities and ecosystems. We’ll also discuss the importance of new strategies to advocate for the right to water and steps you can take to understand and reduce your water footprint.

Please register by contacting Marin Byrne at mbyrne@iatp.org or (612) 870-3411.

Best Coffee Shop in the Twin Cities 2013

April 17th, 2013

We are proud and honored to be named as the Best Coffee Shop in the Twin Cities by City Pages! It is a great testament to our talented and hard-working staff!
Here’s what they had to say:
“We have long been fans of Peace Coffee, our ubiquitous local roaster, not only for its coffee products but for its involvement in the community and its work with fair trade and sustainability around the world. So when Peace opened its own coffee shop two years ago, nestled near the convergence of the Longfellow and Seward neighborhoods, we were already predisposed to like it. And we did. Now that we’ve had some time to get to know the place, it hasn’t lost any of its charms; if anything, our appreciation has grown. The drinks, of course, are top-notch, from the dark roast to the lattes to the chai teas — each one enhanced that little bit by the details of its presentation. But it’s the space itself, that great intangible of any coffee shop, that works so well for Peace. The brightly colored walls, the wide-open feel from the large picture windows, and the hip-but-not-annoyingly-hip jams pumping over the stereo are just the thing to make you want to curl up for a few hours with a good book, or a hot date.”
